About me

My name is Sharon and I live in the UK. I have an undergraduate science degree (nutrition), as well as an undergraduate arts degree (history). I have worked in public health to promote healthy lifestyle choices.

For many years my goal has been to encourage healthier choices, including simple foods that will provide the nutrients that contribute to a healthier body and improved energy levels. I like to use and recommend ‘everyday’ foods that are readily available and generally inexpensive.

I want to ‘make healthy normal’ and ‘make healthy choices easier’ by discussing good food (full of nutrients), activity and sleep as a route to good health. To me, good health means vitality – plenty of energy and a sense of well-being – with a reduced risk of developing illnesses in the short-term (like colds and flu) and in the longer term (chronic diseases like heart disease or diabetes).

Follow me on Twitter and Facebook for even more hints and tips and to snoop on my ‘everyday’ foods.

History

In 2014 Sharon developed The Good Food ~ Good Health Project in order to promote healthier lifestyle choices in the community.

In 2013/14 Sharon spent a year in Latin America, exploring the sights and the culture.

In 2012/13 Sharon worked with the public health team at Portsmouth City Council and Bodymorph Ltd to develop a healthy weight care pathway for children in Portsmouth. Sharon researched the guidance, evidence and best practice around childhood obesity and worked with various stakeholders in Portsmouth to ‘re-think’ the approach to the lifestyle choices available to children.

From 2009-2011 Sharon worked with the Healthy Weight team at the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership (BHFP) for 2 years, developing and delivering healthy lifestyle and weight management programmes and nutrition training with other Nutritionists and Dietitians.

Sharon has previously developed and delivered healthy eating workshops, cook & eat sessions, weight control classes, training and advice for catering staff, and training for community and social care staff to increase their knowledge of food & nutrition (for the benefit of their clients or service users).
